Bridge Lighting

Bridge illuminated at Night

Bridge Lighting

Bridge Lighting can be achieved by Floodlights, Streetlights or LED Strip lighting or a combination.

On the Pedestrian Bridge shown, the LED strip lighting system was adapted by VeeLite to suit the Archway of the Bridge and exact lengths were supplied to match the Bridge construction. The Bridge is now an attractive night time feature as well as providing functional lighting on the Bridge itself for night time walkers.

LED Strip Lighting

LED Strip Lighting designed for external use presents a great opportunity for external illumination. The lighting is easier to conceal, provides uniform constant light over a distance and can provide significant light output without glare.

Bridge Floodlighting

A traditional approach to Bridge Lighting is to install Floodlights at the Base of a Bridge and directed upwards to illuminate either the underside of the Bridge, or above the Bridge illuminating the Bridge Towers or suspension cables.

The Viaduct Bridge shown is an example.  Small 40w LED Floodlights, supplied by VeeLite were installed at the base of the Columns to the stonework and pointed upwards.  The LED Floodlights were 3K to add warmth to the Bridge appearance and Barn-doors were added to each Floodlight to prevent light spill.

Street Lighting on the Bridge itself

In addition to lighting a Bridge for the benefit of remote viewers, the Road or Pathway across a Bridge may require illumination to Street or Pathway standards.   In many cases, Streetlighting illuminates these roads and is often a continuation of the Streetlighting along the adjoining roads.

The 2 photos show different styles of Streetlight – modern Streetlights with curved lighting Poles and architectural, heritage style Streetlights on the other Bridge.  VeeLite can provide special Flanged Poles or Custom Brackets to allow installation on to a Bridge.
