Pathway, Greenways, Cycleways, Footpaths, etc

Walking Track Lighting or Pathway Lighting can often be a choice of LED Floodlights, Streetlights, Bollards, Ground lights, etc. VeeLite plans the optimum solution using software to minimise the number of Lights required and minimise the Energy load, but maximise the Light levels and ensure an adequate spread of Light along the Walkway.

While there are several potential solutions, most Sports Clubs have installed Streetlights on the Walkway.  This is a dedicated Walking Track Lighting system for the Walkway only.   Special LED optics are used, suitable for a narrow Pathway and this provides a wide spacings between the Poles.  VeeLite have typically used 40M+ spacings between Streetlight Poles.  Several other options are listed below.

The upgrading of Pitch Floodlighting with new LED Sports Floodlights provides an opportunity to illuminate an adjoining Walking Track around the Pitch.  Walkers can use this facility safely during daylight or night time and there is a large Net to separate the Pitch from the Track.  For Parents or other Spectators, they can walk around the Pitch, improving their own fitness, whilst their kids etc play nearby.  This system is only suitable for Walkers when the Pitch is in use.  Alternatively, the Lighting Poles can be used to add a seperate lighting system for the Pathway, typically Streetlights, so that the main Floodlights can be left switched off.

Another option is to use LED Bollards (or Wands – ie. Special High Bollards up to 4M in height).  In a coastal Park (photo below), a system of 2m High Bollards was employed.  These provide a wider spread than standard Bollards (typically only 1M high), but is less obtrusive than using lighting Poles.

Greenway Projects have special requirements, combining high light levels with a wide track to be illuminated. The Portmarnock to Baldoyle Greenway is such an example.  (Video shown on Civil Contractors website).  The LED Bollards used in this Project had special optics to illuminate a very wide area (2 Tracks – One for Pedestrians and another for Cyclists).

The possibility of Vandalism or Accidental damage may need to be considered in some locations.  Directional Groundlights were installed on a coastal Walkway at Tramore to minimise the possibility of damage by Bicycles and to maintain the clear view of the Coastline.   Linear Groundlights with a Blue light output were installed at the Bray Riverwalk.

Solar Powered Lights have been supplied to some Projects.
