Swimming Pool Lighting
Several Options are shown for Swimming Pool Lighting – Wall Mounted Floodlights, direct or indirect and High Bay Pendants.
FLOODLIGHTS
With a bright ceiling, it is possible to use floodlights directed at the ceiling to illuminate the pool. If the ceiling is darker or obstructed, the floodlights can provide all or some of the illumination directly at the pool, with a small percentage at the ceiling for effect.
The floodlight itself is designed for outdoor usage so is ideal for the moist or wet interior of a swimming pool lighting project. Other options with this floodlight include symmetric or asymmetric light output. Asymmetric is supplied in this project as light was directed to the centre of the ceiling.
If the ceiling is darker or obstructed, but is high enough, then wall mounted floodlights can be pointed towards the centre of the Pool. Smaller Floodlights and more of them may be required to avoid causing glare, which may result from the use of a few, more powerful Floodlights. The Photo of New Ross Sports Centre shows Asymmetric Floodlights on the Wall directed towards the centre of the Pool.

Other options with this floodlight include symmetric or asymmetric light output. Asymmetric is supplied in this project as light was directed to the centre of the ceiling.
HIGHBAYS
This swimming pool uses high performance High Bays which were located so they can be accessed for relamping easily. The outer rows can be accessed from the sides and the central rows can be accessed from the overhead gangway. The same luminaires were used for the large adjoining sports hall lighting project which includes basketball and tennis courts, a sprint track and a jogging track.
