Facade Lighting
Typically Facade Lighting can be achieved by using Floodlights, Groundlights, Wall Lights or an LED strip system. The Photos below show typical applications.
With Groundlights
Kilkea Castle, County Kildare has a history dating back to 1180 and is part of a 180 acre Woodland Estate once owned by Strongbow. Today it a 5 star hotel and golf resort approx 1 hour from Dublin.
The exterior walls were illuminated by 16 ground recessed floodlights (ie. groundlights). These LED groundlights were supplied with 26w, 3K warm white asymmetric optics. The lens frame is of stainless steel construction. The lighting is installed near the Castle Walls so the Facade is brighter near the base and darker near the top. The lighting is not equally spaced and this provides more drama with dark and bright patches.
Groundlights
Recessed LED Groundlights illuminate the Walls of the above Hotel. With the advantages of low energy use, long life, low heat (if touched), small size (less prone to Vandalism or glare) and a location immediately next to the Facade, the scheme is discreet and effective.
Facade Lighting
The Facade on this Multi-storey carpark was illuminated using a customised continuous lighting system installed on the Facade at the first floor level.
The optics were narrow beam and the metallic building facade allowed the light to bounce to the higher areas of the Building. Signlite Luminaires are used to illuminate such Facades and are available with LED optics. Different lengths of Signlites can be butted together to ensure the overall length matches the length of the Building. Small Outreach brackets are supplied to hold the lighting system, which is offset from the Building to provide better illumination.
Typical installations include Retail Stores, Signs and billboards.
