HOW MUCH LIGHT IS NEEDED FOR MY SPORTS PITCH ?
CIBSE are the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers who are an Authority in recommending Light Levels and General Lighting standards for Public areas, workplaces, Sports, etc.
Typical Recommendations:
- 75 Lux for Training and Local Competition in Football and Rugby. Note Training Level would usually include Recreation and low level competition.
- 200 Lux for Mid Level Competition (eg Soccer) and Low Level Competition or Training (Tennis / Hurling).
SPECIFIC SPORTS ORGANISATIONS:
RUGBY
RFU (England) recommends 100 Lux for Training and between 100 Lux and 200 Lux for Competition.
SOCCER
The FA recommends 150 Lux for Training and 250 Lux for Senior, Intermediate, Junior & Schoolboy Football.
PLANNING PERMISSION NEEDED ?
We can produce any Lighting Calculation (Lighting Design) in the Format required by Local Authorities.
The difference is mainly a Format issue, but specific issues, example – showing Lighting Spill outside the Pitch or onto nearby Properties etc may be required.
INSTALLATION ?
VeeLite is a Lighting Design and Manufacturing Company. We do not install Lighting. Instead we work closely with Electrical Contractors and can provide Recommendations if required.
